Today was my THIRTY-NINE WEEK appointment. I know. It's hard to believe that I'm not on Week 63 or something equally outrageous like that. I should have just prepared myself from the beginning that I was on a 42-week journey and distracting people like Steve would try to convince me that I would deliver at 37 weeks. Cruel jokers.
At my appointment today, I was checked and told that basically nothing is going on down there. So, mystery solved: it really was just gas the other night. TMI? Well then don't stick around for the birth story in a few days. Or weeks. Oh who am I kidding, it could be a full month from now before this little human makes up his/her mind to leave the comfy, fudge-filled body cavity that has become "home." But according to my doc, they won't let me go past 41 weeks. I am not too happy about that. I mean, as much complaining as I do about wanting this baby to be out NOW, I don't want to be artificially-induced. I think babies come out when they're ready, and if s/he isn't out, well then, s/he just isn't ready yet. So I go back on Friday again (AWESOME) for another check, and if nothing is a'movin' and a'shakin' down south, she is threatening to strip my membranes. Which, no big deal, I had that done with Sam and I think it "encouraged" things to start happening. I would much prefer that over the dreaded PITOCIN (cue over-dramatic violins and lightening bolts). So we will see. If you would like to be added to the text-alert club to get grossly-awesome updates via your cell phone (ex: "OMG I'm going to the hospital to poop out my kid! Yay!"), please send your cell number to my email and I will be sure to bug you in the middle of the night (because I don't see this child being born in the convenient hours of 9-5).
I also took advantage of the babysitter (Steve- HA) and went next door to register myself at the hospital. Because, well, it's about time I got around to that. The lady doing my paperwork asked me for my due date and I told her the 25th. She stopped what she was doing and looked at her calender. She pointed to Sunday's block and said, "THIS day? The 25th of THIS month?" Um, yes. I promise that if my water breaks in your office today that I will clean it up before flitting off to L&D. So now I'm officially "in the system" at the hospital. COME ON SECOND BABY. THERE'S YOUR CUE.
Anyways, according to the emails I can't/won't unsubscribe from, I am baking a mini-watermelon in here this week. You read that right- a mini-WATERMELON. Although there appears to be nothing "mini" about this situation.
As usual, I still cannot see my feet or Sam when he stands directly in front of me. (Sam has not seemed to pick up on this yet, and that is why I still bowl him over about 32 times a day.) I tend to waddle after sitting (or standing. or lying down) for a while. I've also slowed down my fudge-making (*SHOCKER*). We ran low a week or so ago, and Steve said, "I'd better eat these last two pieces!"
Why?
"Because if I eat these, then you'll just make more, right?"
Um, yes, I most likely will.
And this is how most things go in our house.
Now get a load of this.
Sam and I went walking/toddling/waddling the other day and came upon the next-door neighbor girls jumping on their trampoline in their swimsuits with the hose on.
Someone couldn't tear himself away from the action.
So we just sat down and watched. Like a couple of creepers. Two of them eventually came over to play with him and he had no idea what to make of them. He just kept smiling and staring. And then one of them farted and I declared it HIGH TIME to go home.
Yes, the rumors are true- I am still pregnant.

Add me to your text list please! I also text you today to ask if you had the baby but I know that gets annoying because I am sure everyone else is doing that too...lol
ReplyDeleteI hope it is this week!
Sam is so cute. He so wants to jump! I just went to open gym today and J loved it. It is at Skies and the kids just need to be registered at CYS. It is $2 but in April it if free! Maybe we can go together then or if not in the summer :)
Sounds like fun! I have to re-do my CYS paperwork for Sam because we keep adding allergies to the list, but after I get that completed, we should be good to go!
DeleteYou can text me anytime! I feel bad for my mom- every time I call her, she's like, "What's going on? Are you in labor?" LOL
Ahhh yes the dreaded Pitocin. I had it with both of my kids and it SUCKED! I hope you don't have to go through with that and h/she will come out. I think it's a girl because she is taking her sweet time, but I guess we will find out soon huh? Those last couple weeks sure do stink!!! I remember them and keep telling my husband I am done having kids, if he wants more he has to figure out how to carry and give birth to one. :) Hehe! Good luck!!!!! I hope all goes well for you and it's a speedy delivery! I'll be thinking about ya!
ReplyDeleteI would love it if they figured out a way for men to carry babies, but.... they kinda stink when it comes to pain management, and I dunno if I wanna deal with THAT for 9 months... LOL Might just be easier for me to do it myself. haha!!
Deletefarting is always a good cue to leave. it's almost over and that mini-watermelon will be keeping you up all night. ah the sweet bliss of babies. makes me want another one!!
ReplyDeleteI think I am sensing a little bit of sarcasm there.. LOL I am NOT a newborn fan, so I'm definitely not looking forward to the beginning up-all-night phase, but after that, and some coffee, I think things will be good. ;) (Naive?)
DeleteWoohoo for baby soon! Well, soon for me as an outsider, not carrying around a mini watermelon!
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for baby soon too! Until I get a full night of sleep, and then I think, Eh, you can wait a while longer, Second Baby... ;) lol
DeleteYou know, every so often I check my google reader, and think I haven't seen your blog for awhile, she must have had her baby!
ReplyDeleteOh, and that whole last paragraph had me in stitches!
Little boys are so FUNNY!! He was so into watching those girls. Gotta watch out when he gets a little older- whoo boy I'll have my hands full! lol
DeleteO Jenn, you make me laugh. And Sam and my boys are in no way allowed to attend Auburn all together. Too many girls in bathing suiting at the Garden District pool, with alcohol, which is basically like a big trampoline, to distract them. If he is starting this young, we are in big trouble.
ReplyDeleteOh LORD, that little blue-eyed band of brothers could get into some SERIOUS trouble if Auburn, alcohol, and girls were involved. We will obviously have to plant informants all over town.
DeleteOk you have my # so I hope I'm already on the to be txted list :)
ReplyDeleteI hope baby comes soon so they wont induce. I know you are ready!
You're on the list! I figured you might wanna know.. ;)
DeleteI'm praying for a natural start to this labor too! The hospital juices scare me!
Of my seven children, five of them were late, and three of those were ten days late. I don't believe there's any reason, at that point, to be induced. Or maybe at any point. Nobody has ever been pregnant forever, and the baby will be born just as soon as the baby is ready to be born. The way I get around the inducement is to stop going to doctors appointments after 40 weeks. :-) There's no way for them to mess with me if I'm not there.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and hoping for an easy birth experience!
I wholeheartedly agree!! And I was thinking the same thing as I was driving away yesterday- What could they do if I just didn't show up until it was go-time? NOTHING. So, that might be the solution. Did you inform your doc that you weren't coming back for an induction or did you just do it? I like that approach. :)
DeleteI hope your second bundle of joy arrives soon! =) Good Luck...
ReplyDeleteThank you! Me too!! :)
DeleteOK, new baby. It's about time to make a quick and easy entrance into this world. Let's go.
ReplyDeleteNow if only sheer will could convince this kid to come out, I think the "come out baby" thoughts would have forced him/her out by now! ;)
DeleteI. Can't. Wait. :)
ReplyDeleteMe neither! I'll be sure to let you know when it's "go-time". :)
DeleteTime to serve that baby some eviction papers!! Hang in there, Mama :)
ReplyDeleteWell said! I'm soaking up the last few nights of sleeping multiple hours straight. I know my days there are numbered. ;)
DeleteI've never had a baby so I'm no expert or anything, but I always thought there was no reason to induce unless you're WAY past your due date or if there's some risk to mom or baby. I say, force your doctor into giving you specifics about why they want to induce, and if it's not because of an actual health risk, tell them no. What are they going to do, hold you down and force pitocin into you? I hope not, anyway :)
ReplyDeleteExactly. And we have NO RISKS. So there's NO POINT in inducing me. It's only going to lead to other unwanted interventions, and will screw everything up. I'm sure it's a policy that Drs with privileges to that hospital have to abide by. That's what my last doc told me anyway. But she was willing to let me go to 42 weeks. And then let me try all sorts of things to kickstart labor. She was a pretty cool lady. I like this doc a LOT too, but I'm not feeling the whole induction vibe. We will definitely discuss more on Friday at my next appointment. Fear not! I will not give in to the induction demands without a MAJOR fight! :)
DeleteYou and baby are in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other(s) who said that you should really double check your physician's motives behind inducing you...although, you may be on to something with Baby sticking around for so long because he/she just can't resist the fudge! :)
So glad to hear everything is going well and that you are both healthy!
Thanks for the prayers! They are much appreciated! :)
DeleteDoc and I are definitely having a more in-depth conversation about induction procedures tomorrow. Don't worry, I'm very anti-chemical-anything, so it's going to be tough (on them!) to get anything in me! lol
And I have stopped eating fudge (shocker! I know!) so as to help encourage this little watermelon out. I have been making the living situation in there FAR too comfortable!!
