Will is 8 months old and Pennsylvania was a vacation

8.31.2016

My sweet cherub turned 8 months old this past week.

Except I was terribly sleep deprived the morning I realized it was the 26th, and fuh-REEKED out that he was 9 months old and idk if it's just me or is time FLYING by these days?? Luckily Steve was still home to talk me down and remind me that Will is only 8 months old. Then he counted it out for me because obviously I did not believe him, despite the fact that he had coffee in his body and I did not.

Steve's office (? battalion? group o' work folks?) has done really well with their numbers and efficiency over the last month, so they all went on a half-day fishing trip on Friday to celebrate. Steve took his number one fishing buddy with him, of course. Since we were headed to Pennsylvania that evening for the weekend (and the fishing trip was out of Brooklyn), it was decided that we would drop them off and pick them up on our way out of town. Unfortunately, there was a lot of road work and we spent a lot of time in the car that day. We finally made it back to the guys and they had caught seven fish! We stopped at Old McDonald's to celebrate, as one does.

Baby wants a Big Mac

He'll settle for a water bottle though

We ended up making great time to PA and arrived at bedtime. Except you can't go to bed as soon as you get to your grandparents' house.

Accidents are a rarity around here (thank God) but there was one that day that was nothing short of epic. We had to dismantle and wash as soon as we got to the house.

We spent a lot of time outside on Saturday. I absolutely LOVE watching the kids run around barefoot in the grass.

This child never stops moving while we're here.

My sweet Sam- I am continually in shock at how big he is.

Oh how I love this boy!!

Steve, the babe, and I snuck out to run errands while the big kids went to a bounce house place with my mother-in-law. Naturally the errands were structured around having lunch at Chick-fil-A.

Such a big boy sitting in a high chair!!

Catching an afternoon baseball game with Pop pop. Phillies vs Mets. He seemed a bit confused as to who he should root for.

Front row seat to the action

Steve grilled steaks and hot dogs for dinner, although admittedly we just wanted a reason to have a fire so we could make smores later on. #priorities

"This picture should be in a magazine. I look like a real mountain man here." Yes you do, darling. My dream mountain home is also beachfront, thus the beach chairs. We have to mesh our two dreams- that's what marriage is all about.

Mmmmmmm smores

I'm starving again

Baby thighs sound delicious right now too though..

Sunday morning and nobody ever lets Mom mom sleep in.

Ever since seeing the goats on Governor's Island, Molly has been obsessed and needed to see more. So off to Linvilla we went to see and feed the animals.

There is now arguing over who gets to push the baby, so obviously I mostly sit around and eat bon bons all day what with my free slave labor and all.

Behold the goats and sheep

And three years prior...

Wahhhhhhhhh

I never could have predicted her love of goats

Who's got me now?

Steve and I (and Will) escaped to do a Costco run while the big kids went home with Mom mom. He's so quiet, it's almost like a date. Then that evening we had a little pizza party and cake to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday!

Cooperative as always

Monday morning, Steve had an appointment and then we headed back to NY. The kids were devastated, of course, but soon after having a car lunch (what else but the magical Chick-fil-A?) and a ring pop (which is like the big kid version of a pacifier), all three were out cold.

They slept all the way through New Jersey, which, in my opinion, is the most boring, whiney-est part of the entire trip. We unloaded the car and headed up to a playground because, while car naps are amazing, they also mean that the big kids' batteries are fully charged. Always scary come bedtime.

Wrestled burger baby into his nighttime costume before he went to bed. Notice I don't say that he went to sleep. Because not much sleep happens after he goes to bed. But whatever. Super cute. I forgive him.

Sprinkler fun the next day with friends-

I can almost hear Sam shrieking still

  1. I am jealous of all the Chick Fil A. I'm about to get in the car right now and get myself a number five with CFA sauce and sweet tea.

Since the kids fight over pushing Will, you should let the one who didn't get to push have an extra special helping job at home...like sweeping the floor or cleaning the bathroom!

  2. New Jersey is pretty boring but you are lucky you get to stop in NY...because Connecticut is miserable on the way to RI!!!!
