Project 365 - week 21

5.27.2014

Two blog posts in one day!! Go buy a lottery ticket for me now please!

Learning how to make grits.

My sweeties down by the river

Ugh.

My saintly husband put together Sam's new tricycle with an audience and loads of "help." He earned his beer.

We visited the market and discovered that our favorite field of wildflowers has bloomed in bright yellow!

Naturally I needed to see the flower field in the dreamy golden hour light, so I really sold the sand pit located in the middle. These two were so excited, they even followed basic instructions like, "hold your sister's hand." Wonders never cease!

Another evening with Sam riding his trike and Molly wailing because she isn't.

More family!

5.26.2014

My parents and sister came to Korea this past week to visit us! It was so nice to see them and have a bit of "home" with us for a while.

After-dinner walks, ice cream, and soju.

We made cheese grits.

We tried to get everyone's cankles to return to ankles.

We visited the trampoline tent and ran into some preschool friends (literally) while boating.

We went to our favorite beef and leaf!

Blessing the food, I think.. or jet lag had overtaken him... or I only seem to catch people on camera when they're blinking.

Market!

Pascucci's!

Steve was a saint while my family was here. He took the kids home for naps after lunch and let us walk around the markets and stores and sit like civilized adults and have real conversations. He also did a lot of dishes, drove us everywhere, changed out carseats, and took care of every little thing so I could hang out with my family.

Naturally we went "feshing." In snowboots. Because what else do you wear to the river?

No one trusts me enough to document things for them.

She's fabulous.

Attempting to stack rocks for good luck.

Of course we had to stop at the prehistory park afterwards.

I didn't get any pictures of our trip to Seoul, but I got Molly a cute little Hanbok outfit and we saw endless stores and shops in Namdaemun. My dad and sister started feeling sick, so we headed back a bit early. We will be sure to see the rest of Seoul on their next trip!

Here you see Saintly Steve putting together a tricycle for Sam with all sorts of help and onlookers.

Once he got the hang of it, he loved it! Molly on the other hand...

Molly was quite peeved that the tricycle did not belong to her. And that her legs can't reach the pedals. And that we refuse to become hunchbacks in order to push her around all day. And that we tried to pacify her with a soccer ball.

We only keep our iPad charged to about 10%... that way, when he does finally get his hands on it, he can't sit with it for very long. And we don't have to play bad guy- "Oh man, the battery is dead! Looks like we have to charge it. Oh well. Wanna read a book?" Works every time.

This is what "fresh off the air mattress" looks like. Glamorous, yes?

We passed our favorite flower field and visited our town's market.

We stopped back by the flower field that houses a sand pit before heading home for lunch.

We tried to cram as much sightseeing and good food in as we could, but I still feel like we missed showing them a lot of stuff. Hopefully they can come back before we move and see everything else! We miss them already and loved being able to spend time with family. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to heat up some leftover cheese grits for breakfast.

I wouldn't trade it for anything

5.25.2014

Life these days- naked babies, yoga pants, reading books, having monster trucks driven on my head, Army laundry, recycling waiting to be taken out, full-body hugs, open-mouth kisses, and general everyday messiness.

I love my life.

Project 365 - week 20

5.20.2014

It's still Tuesday where most of you are, and that means I'm not late posting this again. Right?

Just trying to wake up.

Expanding their vocabulary while improving their posture- I like to think that everything they learned about multitasking, they learned from me.

A little after-dinner walk and some ice cream.

Family photo session at my favorite place and I asked this guy if Batgirl was Spiderman's sidekick (just trying to get him to look at me), and this is what I got. Seriously offended that I would even ask such a question.

Must take her shoes off... and then whine that her shoes are not on her feet...

After a long day (SO LONG), I realized I hadn't taken a photo yet. And since Steve had already finished his dental routine (dangit!), I opted for a "selfie." Except my camera had other plans and decided to show me a few spots I'd missed when cleaning the mirror earlier. Ah well, I looked kinda rough anyway; camera knows best?

My parents and sister arrived! We celebrated by slamming soju and partying all night. Jk we read kids books and were all in bed by 9.

Project 365 - week 19

5.13.2014

A day late and a dollar short! My Tuesday got away from me- between a cake smash in the morning, and turning into a redhead in the afternoon, I all but lost track of time yesterday. So here is this past week in photos.

This was our first time visiting the coffee shop underneath our apartment complex and the kids were overjoyed. Real, non-diluted juice and complimentary cookies? (I had an amazing caramel macchiato that Sam may or may not have had a few giant gulps out of..) Molly loved the experience so much that she ran running straight into the owner's arms and gave her a big hug. Perfect afternoon playground fuel.

One year anniversary of Steve coming home from Afghanistan. So many things have changed since then, but messy kitchens and loving him certainly haven't.

The moment I realized that this summer might be a problem- when we were playing outside in 75* weather and we were all sweating and complaining about the heat. Uh oh.

Hanging out at my favorite place and I'm convinced that no bad pictures can be taken here at sunset.

My Mother's Day card. Homemade is my favorite.

My trusty model, trying to help me decide jf spending 3/4 of naptime to cut and glue construction paper grass together is worth it or not for a cake smash the next day. (Don't all the big shot photographers make their own backdrops out of their kids' art supplies?)

I think it was worth it.

One year ago today..

5.08.2014

.. I was anxiously awaiting for Steve to come home from Afghanistan. I was nervous, impatient, giddy, and excited to wrap my arms around him. I honestly can't believe an entire year has gone by since that night.

This past year has been one of the best, and I fall more and more in love with that handsome hunk of man every day.

Project 365 - week 18

5.06.2014

"I tuck her in!"

So many flowers!

Molly makes this face no fewer than 800 times per day. I think it is the cutest thing ever.

Another day, another mountain. I can still walk too, so apparently it wasn't steep enough.

Our town blocks off part of the street every Sunday and hosts a little children's fun area. This was our first time going, but judging by Sam's love of driving the motorcycles, we'll be back. (The cars pictured above were remote-controlled, so Steve and I let them think that they were driving, when in reality, we were just walking alongside of them, controlling their every move. Bwahahaha!)

At the market today. I'm loving all of the spring flowers out around town. And the red Hangul on the windows says "flower" (which you may or may not have been able to guess just by looking at the display in front of the store, but seriously, SYMBOLS = WHO KNOWS). I tried to translate the stuff above the telephone number and my phone said, "Song lucky not fire." You win some and you lose some.

We (meaning "I") decided to go exploring this afternoon instead of hitting up the regular playground scene. Despite climbing one MILLION stairs up a mountain that led to nowhere (besides a decent view), the kids were overjoyed. And Molly would only hold Sam's hand down the stairs. Sweet.
