Is it REALLY October already?

In years past, the beginning of October had me excited solely because the weather was starting to cool off.

At the Syrup Sop in Loachapoka, AL. Clearly we didn't have a whole lot going on in those days. But look how YOUNG Steve looks! That hair! And Odie's wearing clothes? Priorities have certainly shifted since 09...

Then last year, the beginning of October had me reflecting on mine and Steve's last few days of being a "childless" couple. We were going on dates, sleeping in, taking naps, and prepping for our new addition.

He appears calm, but there were many expletives uttered during the putting together of this crib...

And this year? I'm gobsmacked that my BABY is turning a year old.

Those blue eyes, my GOSH...

I asked him yesterday if he was ever going to grow up and be bigger than one. He shook his head "no." (That seems to be the only head movement he really enjoys doing.)
So, you heard it here. He's going to stay my little boy forever.

"Oh give me patience when wee hands 

Tug at me with their small demands.

And give me gentle and smiling eyes.

Keep my lips from hasty replies.

And let not weariness, confusion, or noise

Obscure my vision of life's fleeting joys.

So when, in years to come my house is still-
