For block leave, we drove up to Pennsylvania to visit with Steve's family. When I regain my sanity, I will post about the trip there and back. It's all too fresh right now though, so I thought it best to reflect on the happy part of the trip- the actual visiting part.
Sam mowed the grass (and a lot of concrete) with his new lawn mower. |
He got a taste of his first water ice. (Pronounced WUUH-ter ice, FYI.) |
First trip to the pet store. |
Molly took full advantage of the open-lap policy at my in-laws' house. |
Sam enjoyed a week of playing outside and not burning to a crisp the moment he walked out the door. |
I am in LOVE with this picture. |
Hanging out with Pop-pop. |
While Sam usually spends his days pointing out helicopters flying overhead, this past week he had the opportunity to point out airplanes. |
Steve and I got to go out on MULTIPLE dates, including this dinner "under the stars." (Also, the prices on that wine list scared me sober. True story.) |
Mom-mom let Sam eat some snacks in a "big boy chair." |
Not wanting to miss out on a meal, Molly managed to squeeze her chunky little thighs into the Bumbo and sit with us. |
More airplane watching. |
Reading stories with Aunt Amy |
Molly loooooved sitting with Aunt Amy. |
In addition to learning how to climb DOWN stairs, he learned to climb UP onto furniture. Here he is having some deep thoughts. Probably about how long he can avoid a diaper change. |
Molly continued to not be picky about where she slept. |
HOW CUTE IS THIS?! |
Steve got to go on his fishing trip with the guys and caught a ton of fish. |
The cousins! Sam is his usual happy self. |
Hanging with Aunt Debbie. Surveying the spread for the BBQ. |
I expect you to eat some of that chocolate cake, Mom. SERIOUSLY. |
Cousin Megan seriously saved some lives. And by "lives," I do mean "sanity." |
Saying hello to Mom-mom. |
Steve drinking a martini. It'll be awhile before he lives this down. |
Sam negotiating with cousin Tessa for the balloon. |
Her curls are killing me. (She and Sam are six months apart.) |
Molly was catching a breeze and listening to the conversations with Aunt Joan. |
Sam not only learned how to make coffee HIMSELF, but he proceeded to (pretend) drink some out of an espresso cup. |
Another date- we escaped to lunch, then Target, and finally HomeGoods/Marshalls (cue choirs of angels singing), and Steve thought this sign was very appropriate. HAR HAR. |
Molly, doing her thang, being cute and all. |
Sam, at parade rest, surveying the yard. (He has started standing like this all the time now..) |
Despite his crusty yogurt-face, I love this photo of him. |
And that, my friends, was most of our trip. I'll be back to recap the trip one day soon(ish). Happy Independence Day!
That picture of Molly sitting on the table in her Bumbo is adorable. She makes me want red haired babies.
