My little sister Liz came back up with us after Molly's baptism and is nannying (new verbage, courtesy of moi) for us. She calls it nannying. I call it The Most Extreme Dose Of Birth Control That No Prescription Drug Will Ever Top.
Things we have actually said over the past two weeks:
Liz, in bathroom, accompanied by Sam, naturally: "Sam! Don't touch that! Hey, look! Is that your ear? Stop pulling on that. Is that a magazine? Hey! I'm peeing! Yay!"
"That looks like pesto."
"Let's change your diaper Sam! Wanna sing a song? Hey! I just met you. And this is craaaAAaaazy! So here's my number. Call me maybe!"
"Do your feet STILL smell like cheese? Coulda swore I gave you a bath last night.."
"YOUR AUNT LIZ WILL NEVER HAVE CHILDREN AND IT'S GONNA BE ALL. YOUR. FAULT."
Sweet Liz is SUCH a help though. The girl never stops. She never waits to be told what to do, she just jumps in and does it. You'd think she has kids of her own the way she soothes Molly and distracts Sam. Her patience is unbelievable and she has tolerated my cooking quite well. We started Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred, which is providing laughter and (hopefully) some muscle. It's nice to be totally accountable to someone and also have someone to go through that sort of physical misery with. Since she has been here, my productivity has skyrocketed. Baby clothes that needed to be sorted, organized, and put away have done just that. New recipes have been cooked almost nightly. I emptied the crap out of the vacuum cleaner for the first time in probably a year (don't judge me...). A Pinterest project was even started AND COMPLETED all in the same morning. This sort of thing is just unheard of.
Overall, girl's a rockstar and I could not be happier to have her hanging out with us for the summer. Oh! AND, Steve and I are able to go on DATES! How wonderful is that?! Of course my boobs tend to dictate how long those outings last, but we're still alone and that is something we haven't had in a really long time. Life is good.
Add to my productivity list that I went to the dentist for the first time in over seven years. And contrary to popular belief, my teeth are not rotting out of my head. If you follow me on Twitter (and I highly suggest you do) then you got the play-by-play. If not, I'll bring you up to speed.
Went to dentist. Was informed that I had three mini-cavities. Came back the next day to get them filled. Twitter commentary below. (Read from the bottom up.)
I go next week for a cleaning and expect minimal scraping since I haven't had it done in seven years. That's realistic, right?
Other things I've done since Liz arrived:
![]() |
skillet lasagna |
![]() |
four-cheese pasta with ham and peas (recipe to follow soon(ish) God-willing) |
![]() |
asiago pork chops |
![]() |
OMG chicken (it really was quite tasty) |
![]() |
broccoli and cheese pasta |
![]() |
mashed cauliflower (I only used sour cream, garlic salt, and dry ranch mix) |
Other things that I NEED to do while Liz is here:
- type up Molly's 2 month update before she turns 3 months (I don't see this happening)
- take Sam to allergist in Nashville because he is allergic to something ELSE (omGAH I KNOW)
- complete more Pinterest crafts
- go on more dates
- clean the bathrooms (they are getting really disgusting, but luckily my butt doesn't have eyes so I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the conditions of the toilets)
Ok, off to rent "Bridesmaids." Liz has never seen it (?!?!) and that has to be rectified TONIGHT.
Yay for your sister's help!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Bridesmaids either.
Can I rent sister? And you still have to at least update on Molly Baptism. Partly because I want to see your outfit and partly because I want to see Auburn. And please say funny things on instagram because twitter and I still dont get along.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't I have a little sister?!?! I am so jealous right now. Please help me feel better by sending you sis my way. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it sounds like sainthood is in order for Liz. Also, your dentist twittering (by the time I typed that I remembered the word "tweeting" but decided to leave it so I could include this commentary on my thought process) made my day as it kept popping up on my feed. And one more also, you look fabulous in that maxi dress (big fan of the maxi dress, wore one today!) and I'm so happy for you guys to have date nights!
ReplyDeletep.s. Please encourage me to do the 30 Day Shred - every time I pretend to have discipline I remember how much I want to punch Jillian Michaels in the face. With a folding chair.
That woman is a sadist.
Does your sister by chance want to come nanny for me next? It sounds like an awesome week! I absolutely agree though she NEEDS to she Bridesmaids. Enjoy your weekend :D

ReplyDeletefew things:
ReplyDelete1. all summer?! I want my sister for a summer! Although I think it just might be crazy seeing as how her 3 children are 8, 5, and 3. Might not be as blissful as your experience.
2. Good luck with 30 Day Shred. I really liked it when I did it.
3. I should go to the dentist, too. It's been a long time and now I'm scared.
