Rain, rain, go away (and take summer with you)

7.25.2017

Only a couple more weeks til school. God, I hope we all make it.

If you follow along on Instagram, then you saw that the kids and I were caught in a torrential downpour yesterday morning going to and from soccer camp.

The soccer camp that does not start until next week.

One day I'm gonna get it together.

Yesterday was not that day.

Judging by the state of my living room (and bedroom, and kitchen, and muddy front porch, and food-covered dining room floor),

today is not that day either.

I did manage to make 600 (slight exaggeration) banana muffins this morning out of the overly ripe bananas I had lying on the counter though.

That might be literally all I've done this morning,

but at least it's something (which is more than I can say for yesterday morning).

I also made some milk in between making muffins and wiping bottoms! #superpowers

Don't worry though, I wash my hands constantly.

CONSTANTLY.

Seriously, I refill the hand soap almost as much as I refill baby wipes containers.

Anyways, today it's sunny.

And after "naptime" (I use that term sooooo loosely nowadays), we might coat the gingers in sunscreen and use the slip n' slide.

I picked one up at Walmart the other day for $8 (along with two bottles of wine because living in the South affords you the privilege of getting your booze at the grocery store).

Our entire yard is still pretty soggy from all the rain yesterday though, so I'm not sure the actual slip n' slide is even necessary.

Maybe I'll toss some soap on it and call it their bath.

Not the hand soap though.

Because that stuff is in high demand inside.

(He hit it. My camera missed it. I'm gonna get it together one day.)

  1. I think being home with 4 kids all day is an amazing accomplishment. And then you supervised outside play AND had a mini photo session AND went for a car ride AND made muffins... from scratch! You don't give yourself enough credit. You're killing it right now :)

  2. How do you have time to take so many great pics in the midst of everything else?!

  3. I saw a few people post about the rain there! I've never experienced rain like I did at Polk. It was nuts.

  4. I think the booze at the grocery store is partial compensation for the stifling humidity and heat and the torrential downpours of Southern summers. I'd say it's worth it.
