Betcha didn't know we were masters of disguise

2.07.2013

An actual conversation I had with my husband recently:

Me: So I was thinking that since we've pretty much decided to take my car with us to Korea that I can finally commit to that new Auburn sticker we bought nine months ago and slap it on there. I guess I was waiting so long to be sure that we weren't going to sell it.

Steve: I wouldn't do that.

Me: Why not?

Steve: It's not a good idea to mark up your car with things that scream, "America!" because then we might be recognized as foreigners and targeted.

Yes. Good point. Because if we didn't have that little Auburn sticker on our car, we might just be mistaken for your typical Korean family.

Say "kim-CHEESE!"

    1. There's no need for that kind of language, Bailey. Let's be civilized and not at all like Bama fans.

      ;)

  3. I hear you! We are in Okinawa. All our blondeness kinda gives us away. I don't know how Korea works, but we have special license plates here so everyone knows we are Americans anyways.

  5. Just color their heads in with a sharpie... No one will notice.

(If you need more advice on integrating into a new culture just ask! I'm full of good ideas!)

  7. War Eagle! I think an Auburn sticker will help clarify that you're from the best country in the whole world.

  9. Hilarious!!!

Though, I'll tell you... there's a house in my neighborhood with a 4Runner like ours, with USAF and Mac stickers on the back, and it takes a lot for me not to go running up to the door to see if they'll be my friend.

  10. Haha! So funny. Be prepared to have your cute kiddos touched and picked up EVERY WHERE YOU GO. Children are public property in Korea, and these adorable tots are going to be touched a LOT. (I was touched a lot over there, and I was not a child... just a warning)

  16. We bought PSU stuff for our car over a year ago. I'm in the same position of "Hmm...should I commit to putting a sticker on this piece of fiberglass I've paid $11,000 for?" Although, since we've *just now* decided we're taking my car to MIssouri, I suppose I can commit.

  21. I would say something snarky about neglecting your blog in favor of drinking wine and neglecting your kids- but then I'd feel bad if something was actually going on. So I guess this is me still posting that with a hint of a disclaimer.
